About Colorado Senate Bill 88
What Survivors Need To Know About The New Law
Survivors of child sexual abuse will soon be able to bring claims against those who harmed them, even if they were previously past the statute of limitations. Colorado Senate Bill 88 has created a three-year window—Jan 1, 2022, to Jan 1, 2025—for all lawsuits involving child sexual abuse that occurred in or after 1960. Survivors can sue not only those who abused them but also any organization responsible for their abuse.
If you have questions about what this law means for you, our phone lines are open. Call us today at (303) 835-9227 for a free and confidential consultation.

Why File a Claim?
Legal Action Provides Concrete Benefits to Sexual Abuse Survivors
Taking sexual abusers to civil court is not the same as a criminal case. While criminal trials may end in punitive action, they do not address the harm visited on survivors. In a civil trial, on the other hand, you can request compensation to help you access therapy, counseling, and other necessary care.
We understand how difficult it can be to come forward with a sexual assault claim, especially if previous attempts to hold abusers accountable have faced pushback from those in powerful positions. Under Colorado law, you may be eligible to file a claim against an organization or individual who shielded your abuser from consequences, thus allowing them to target you. After hearing your story, we can explain your legal options and help you decide whether moving forward with a claim is the right choice for you.
